Patience: Slow down to move forward

Patience: Slow down to move forward

Do you know this feeling of being so keen on reaching a specific goal or getting a particular outcome that you can’t wait to get where you want to be? You start focusing on moving into a new space instead of appreciating the present moment. Harness the art of patience and you will start moving forward by slowing down.

Life without Patience

When you become impatient, you start doing more, working harder, pushing yourself in order to move faster. Unfortunately, usually you end up feeling overwhelmed and stressed out.

Hustling, wanting, and being stuck on needing a specific outcome in a situation are all linked to impatience. People want to move faster and get to where they are going more quickly. What is the reason for this speeding movement away from the present moment?

Being impatient brings stress, exhaustion, tiredness, and overwhelm, which affect your health and well-being. The negative results show up in your physical world, which gets your energy out of alignment.

When you are out of alignment, you make impulsive decisions that are not in sync with your purpose. Impatience is resisting energy that keeps you from aligning with the universe – and you end up not being in the flow.

The Art of Patience

Hustling harder isn’t always necessarily better. It may seem counterintuitive, but to get where you want to be faster, start by slowing down, being patient and getting into the flow.

Patience is when you trust that your desire is already on its way. When you are patient, you stick to your desire while believing and trusting in it. You radiate confidence, calmness, and peace – these energies open you up to receive and therefore you attract what you desire into your life.

When you know that it will happen, you can stop worrying, trying to control things or chasing specific outcomes. Desires take time to materialize. Practice patience, trust the process, clear the space and allow your desires to come to you.

Patience involves being willing to surrender to the process. It means you are content in the present moment. No matter how life unfolds, you can move with grace and ease through it all. Release expectations and the need for things to happen on a specific timeline to improve the quality of your life.

Practice Patience

Slowing down supports you to act more mindful, intentional, and thoughtful, bringing your desired results faster. Isn’t that awesome? You can decide to surrender. Focus on this one idea – patience: slow down to move faster.

Choose to slow down

Impatience usually doesn’t kick in from one moment to the next. Instead, it slowly creeps in and builds over time.

Let’s look at an example together. Let’s pretend you have been working on a project for a while and are ready to finish it. When your impatience starts creeping in, everything becomes a hassle. You may begin working longer hours, skipping meals, taking fewer breaks, not resting or playing, or maybe you are even walking faster.

Notice the signs so you can stop this impatience. Catch yourself and become aware of what is happening around you. Forgive yourself, hand it over to the universe, and pace yourself. Choose to slow down.

Pace yourself and get back into the flow. Try these ideas.

  • Get some distance between yourself and what you’re working on.
  • Take an extra-long break. Rest.
  • Walk consciously and slower even when everybody else is rushing.
  • Meditate.
  • Breath consciously and slow down your breath.
  • Spend time in nature. Notice how effortlessly nature exists. The rhythm of nature is also inside of you.

Spirit Animal Turtle

To practice patience, you can also call on the turtle spirit animal. The turtle symbolizes a peaceful and graceful walk. Its meaning is reminding you to take a break from your busy life and rest to gain a more grounded perspective. It encourages you to pace yourself and move in a slower, more grounded series of steps.

I used to be super impatient, and it was beneficial for me to put a little turtle figurine on my desk as a reminder to practice patience. Every time I felt my body trying to speed up, I would remember how the turtle moves with the tides. Then I could center myself again, and regain the trust in my path, understanding it is all part of the process.

Patience is a beautiful energy to align yourself with the flow of life. Enjoy the journey and be open to receiving the blessings that will come your way.
